Tailor bill book format: free printable template and guide

Published 29 October 2026

A tailoring bill book does more than record money. In an Indian tailoring shop or boutique, the bill slip is the agreement between you and the customer: what garment is being stitched, what fabric was brought, how much advance was paid, when the trial is scheduled, and when the clothes will be delivered.

When a bill book is incomplete or missing key details, arguments follow: "I gave ₹1,000 advance, not ₹500", "You promised delivery before Sunday", or "This wasn't the neck design I asked for".

Below is a complete guide to what every tailor bill book must include, a free printable format you can copy, and how to switch to digital bills on WhatsApp.

Essential fields in a tailor bill book

Every tailoring bill book or slip needs ten clear items:

  1. Shop header: Shop name, tagline or specialty (e.g., "Specialist in Blouse & Punjabi Suits"), full shop address, contact numbers, and GSTIN (if registered).
  2. Bill / Order number: Consecutive serial number (e.g., #1042) so you can look up the customer's garment quickly on the shop floor.
  3. Date of booking: The date the customer visited the counter and placed the order.
  4. Customer details: Customer's full name, mobile number, and locality or city.
  5. Key dates:
  6. Trial date: Essential for bridal, blouses, sherwanis and suits.
  7. Delivery date: When the finished garment will be ready for pickup.
  8. Garment description & quantity: Garment type (e.g., Designer Blouse, Kurta Pyjama, 3-Piece Suit), number of pieces, cloth type, and color.
  9. Work & design notes: Specific tailoring requirements such as neck pattern, lining material, padding, piping, embroidery, or alterations.
  10. Measurement reference: A reference number linking this bill to the customer's page in your measurement register or digital profile.
  11. Payment breakdown:
  12. Total stitching charges & extras (latkan, border, lining, embroidery)
  13. Discount (if any)
  14. Net total
  15. Advance paid & mode of payment (Cash, UPI, Card)
  16. Balance due on delivery
  17. Terms and conditions: A few short rules printed at the bottom to protect the shop (trial window, unclaimed garments, fabric inspection).
